In other news, we had some Tilli Tomas yarn on sale last week, it flew out the door.  Thanks for your purchases and enjoy the discounted Tilli, a rare thing.

I was going through my stash and thinking about knitting up all the samples that we have.. well, the ones I haven’t knitted up yet anyway  ;-) .  I started out with the samples for Spud and Chloe, the Sweater yarn that arrived all looped up on pencils, very cute.  But even cuter is knitting the colors up into a mini-scarf.

It’s amazing how well ALL the colors look good together!

Next up is the Tilli Tomas Symphony-Kid Lace with beads, a super kid mohair blend with a metallic thread and beads.  The photo doesn’t do it justice, AT ALL.  But my little fish wanted to be in the shot, haha.

This sample of garter stitch was knit up on US 4 needles.
Fluffy, soft, and the beads as a nice weight to it.
On US 4 needles it knits up nice and tight for a sweater, or use larger needles for a scarf or shawl.

Coming up next: Habu yarns with the new SWTC Xie yarn, a new ultimate favorite.

It’s March already?!

Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun.  This new year has been a great one for getting UFO’s finished and for test knitting new yarns.

Although I don’t have photos of some of the test knits, my new favorite yarns are as follows:

Blue Sky Alpacas Melange
alpacacowl

I haven’t had too much time to knit with this yarn until now.  The heathery look of the colors really comes through in the finished knit!

This lace edge was knit with Tilli Tomas Beaded Plie.  A silk yarn with beads throughout, hold up well to wear and looks great in stockinette too!

This affordable lace weight alpaca is SO dreamy.

In other news, a friend of mine has just launched a new shop at etsy.com!

Her KOALA Caddie™ is a new way to knit and crochet.  Visit the website to learn more about this new yarn craft apron.  I have been using mine for about 3 weeks now and will never go back to plastic bags!

And visit the shop at koalacaddie.etsy.com to view the current offerings.

Sockotta sock progress

I just had to try out the Sockotta yarn. I’ve been seeing lots of Sockotta socks on blogs and wanted to knit one up myself.

This is color 362, a “Casual Stripe” shade.
The speckles of red make the stripes blend, very cool.

Also, coming soon, a new quick crochet pattern using Karaoke yarn.
I call it “Northern Lights”, a fun decoration for winter!

knitty winter 2007!

I finally got around to digging through the new Winter 2007 issue of knitty and now have a few obsessions…

I want to knit Dahlia with Plymouth Galway

And oh my gosh!  Stardust is so darn cute, and
we have a great Gossamer color in stock for it!

And what’s this?  Another Disco Lights pattern?  We just can’t get enough of this yarn huh girls.

Want to see one of the cutest puppy photos I’ve ever seen in my life?  Check out the pattern Cables + Bits

And finally, I’m not really a shawl knitter, but the Jeanie pattern is amazing.

To take you back to knitty Fall 2004, remember the Hallowig?
here is mine from back in the day

eye candy

One more thing on this chilly November night… I wanted to share some photos taken at kpixie from the last year that never made it to the website, for one reason or another.

Eye candy!  You can “steal” these photos for your blog if you like.

2007 at kpixie

Wow! It has been almost 2 months since a kpixie blog entry.
That shows you how busy we’ve been around here.

It’s been a great 2 years since we opened shop, Jessica and I are planning some great additions for 2007. We are always on the look out for cool new products to add to the product line, and with your repeat customer support we can continue… thanks to all you kpixie fans!

Here is a photo from February 2005, in which the
store had 1/8th the amount of yarn it has now. Hard to believe.
knitpixie-whq.jpg

Our goals for 2007 are very similar to our original ones. To bring you hard-to-find yarns, stay as natural as possible with the fiber content, support those knitters who do not have a cool yarn store close to home, photograph every yarn that comes into the shop, always choose yarns that we would knit with ourselves, and get your orders out fast fast fast. We hope we have satisfied your yarn cravings, we hope our customer support has lived up to our reputation, and we hope to keep you as friends in 2007.

Knit on!
