the knitty.com “deep fall” issue of 2010 is packed with great projects!
Here are a few patterns from the issue that we love and have some great substitution ideas for.
1. Brambles Beret
a classic cabled beret in worsted wool.

The new St-denis Boreale is an almost perfect substitute for Spindrift
Plus, Spindrift is only 115 yards, Boreale has 225 yards! so you’re sure to have plenty of yarn
here are the colors that match the pattern photo
Note: we decided to replace the orange with red, since red is used sparingly in the pattern, and hey, lets save some money! and we are using the white in place of the very light heather that is used, again, a money saver)

[CC1] Natural 104, 1 ball –>we chose Boreale 1201
[CC2] Granite 122, 1 ball –>use color 1201 instead
[CC3] Chartreuse 365, 1 ball –>we chose Boreale 1297

[CC5] Crimson 525, 1 ball –> we chose Boreale 1258
[CC6] Violet 600, 1 ball –> we chose Boreale 1279
3. Vines pullover
